Lemonnade Dispensary in Denver, CO Review

Over the summer I found myself in a popular little stoner city called Denver, CO. I arrived a doe eyed Chicagoan, ready to get high as fuuuck. Excited to try all the weed and check out all the dispensaries around. I know, I know, I’m naive as fuck.

You see, like many other “big” cities in America, it wasn’t actually that big. And the options for weed and dispensaries are pretty limited if you don’t know anyone there, like me. So I went to the one place that never lets me down: Google. And within minutes I was pulling up to this truck stop-slash-dispensary called Lemonnade.

The “Sister Company” to Cookies

You guys know I’m usually not a fan of these big corporations and their commercially cultivated cannabis. And even Cookies, the biggest urban geared brand on the market, has “sold out”. So I honestly didn’t have huge hopes for what they had. Turns out the most disappointing part of my experience was the dispensary itself.

The dispensary is a pretty small, standalone building. Its gray and a little drab, and almost reminded me of a Check Cashing spot.

Once you’ve provided your ID at the windowed counter, you walk into the actual dispensary. It’s made to look hip and urban, but it really wasn’t giving. The walls were clad in branded product information. When I went, they were displaying the Kaviar joints that I later purchased. Even with the LED lights and the cool decorations, it wasn’t very inviting.

Luckily the transaction only took a maximum of 10 minutes, from beginning to end. The staff was friendly and informative and pleasant. But it was definitely not somewhere I would hang out. But then I asked myself: What should a dispensary look like?

The Perfect Dispensary

The Lemonnade Dispensary is not unique in its approach. Most dispensaries seem to be modeled after fancy banks, mainly because of the lines and transaction process. And they are all set up exactly the same, islands of merch, no real weed anywhere, and then a cash register.

I’m not really sure what I would want out of a dispensary. Good weed and a welcoming atmosphere for sure. But most dispensaries are not welcoming, in fact, they are made to be fast and efficient.

I’m going to be reviewing dispensaries all across the US! Make sure to fill out your email to stay up to date. Our email list is exclusive and we don’t spam.

The entire interaction was pretty similar to Illinois dispensaries. From the menu interface to the checking out process. I bought a pack of Kaviar pre-rolls and you can read that review here. I also purchased other goodies and will update this post when I review those.

I did visit other dispensaries in Colorado so make sure to sign up for the email list.
