Revlon Eyes Wide Open Mascara Review

Stepping into the makeup aisle of my local CVS, I was surprised to find that Revlon had a new mascara that was infused with Hemp seed oil. I was intrigued and immediately picked it up to give it a go. My usual mascara is the Better than Sex Mascara, or the Voluminous Mllion Dollar Lashes mascara from L’Oreal as my every day.

I didn’t initially have really high hopes. You see, lately it seems like a lot of companies are cashing in on cannabis by throwing some hemp seed oil into their products. And not even in high enough quantities for it to be effective. It’s such low effort, and what I anticipated in this mascara.

The best part of any mascara is the brush. I tend to lean toward denser, bigger brushes. Brushes that comb through my lashes. Although I have tried the leaner, more comb-like mascara wands, I’m just not a fan. Unfortunately this is the type of mascara wand that the Revlon Eyes Wide Open Mascara had.  The bristles were hard and farther apart. As far as application goes, I made due and was able to apply with good coverage.

The formula itself isn’t bad. It is a little on the thicker side. That, paired with the sleek mascara wand, makes for a thicker application than what I’m used to. Still the formula itself did a good job. My eyelashes did seem noticeably fuller, and I did notice a lift. It also did last all day and I didn’t experience any streaks. There isn’t any noticeable flaw in the formula, I just wish it had a better wand.

Hemp seed oil for your eyelashes?

When it comes to the hemp seed oil, we all know I will need regular use of it to be able to see if it’s effective. Nothing tells me that hemp seed oil is special for my eyelashes, not more than any other vitamin oil. Still I guess it’s a good way to actually add some vitamin oil into your beauty routine.

Would I use the Revlon Eyes Wide Open Mascara?

Overall I would say that it was a good quality product at a very affordable price point. A solid choice for anyone looking for a lifting mascara. Although I’m not sure about any benefits from the Hemp seed oil. Let me know if you happen to use it more consistently. As for me, I will use it as an emergency mascara when I need one.
