WTF is the Entourage Effect

Studies on cannabis are all generally pretty recent. In fact, most of what we know about cannabis is from the last 30-40 years, despite cannabis being around for centuries. It seems like almost every week we have a new term or a new phrase we have to learn.

For us cannabis professionals, learning the technical terms is part of the job. I feel like I have a whole encyclopedia of cannabis information and I don’t even actually touch the plant in my line of work. But if you’re just a cannabis consumer, then you don’t need to keep up with all of the terminology.

What You Should Know

Entourage Effect

Think of the weed plant as having many effects, and being high (THC) is just one of them. But if you paired THC with another compound, like CBD, you might also experience pain relief. That’s combination and the resulting effecting is what the entourage is.

This same effect has been seen with the combination of CBD and CBG. Studies have shown it inhibits the bacterial staph infection MRSA. The Entourage effect is important. We’ve all seen cannabis packaging and can agree that the emphasis is THC. But the truth is, all of the terpenes and compounds are what make a unique experience.

What Does the Entourage Effect Feel Like

It’s really hard to describe what the entourage effect feels like because it can range dramatically. CBD with a high amount of linalool, the terpene found in Lavender, can be great as a relaxation or sleeping aid.

As I mention many, many times through out my website, it’s all about trial and error. Cannabis reviews are always so varied because we think we know what is expected from the flower when we smoke it. But no matter if you eat, smoke it, or apply it topically, there are actual benefits to these terpene combinations. So experiment and see what feels good for you.

There are still very few studies related to the Entourage Effect and cannabis compounds in general.
