Left Over Stems? Make a Lip Scrub!

As a frequent flower smoker, there are a few nuances that we are forced to deal with. Ash, having to roll, blunt guts, stems, the list can be endless. But you know Cannabaddie Talk is the urban woman’s cannabis guide, your one stop shop for innovative cannabis ideas that you can really use.

An Idea Born from Being High

Sometimes, having a toke is really a creative awakening. I go through phases of productivity, creativity, awareness. It’s why I have such a deep attachment to cannabis, because it helps me think outside the box.

One chillin Saturday I was cleaning up my smoke stash and noticed I had gathered a pile of stems. I wondered, how many weed stems have I literally tossed in the trash. Let me be honest: I am not drinking weed stem tea. Like there is nothing that sounds more unappetizing than that. So I couldn’t really think of what to do with them. That is until…

I Made a Lip Scrub

Using a small grinder that I save for my hitters, I grinded all of the stems into a gritty sand consistency. Not necessarily powder, although a powder is also fine. I just like my lip scrubs to be industrial strength for some reason thats why I choose a grittier consistency.

Making a lip scrub is honestly super easy. You’re just going to have to pick a base. What do I do? I use a chapstick, usually my favorites like Burt’s Bee’s, Raw Sugar, or even Carmex. But you can use an oil as a base, some examples include coconut oil, virgin olive oil, and even the CBD oil from Mota Magick (use code Cannabaddie for $$ off) . Hell, you can even use something like Vaseline to get the desired effect. Whatever you choose, just make sure you spot test.

Here’s where all those concentrate jars come in handy.

I literally grabbed one of my empty concentrate jars you guys.  I cleaned it out, filled it with the ground up stems. Then I grab my chapstick (or base of choice) and using a butter knife I scrape and scoop into into the jar of stems. Mix it up to incorporate. Once you’ve mixed the two up then you can use as you would any regular lip scrub.

Most body scrubs are made with ground up walnut shells which tend to be a little more coarse than a sugar or salt scrub. I would compare the consistency of the ground up stems to these ground up walnut shells.

The Fine Print

This is something my high ass did. Please spot test as you would. It’s very important to spot test. This is something I did and tested on myself but I also don’t have any skin sensitivities, so please make sure you spot test as needed.

If you’re someone with sensitive skin I don’t recommend you use this on any other part of your body, just your lips.

What are some out of the box ideas you have for using up weed stems?
